The number of birds recommended for this chicken coop is a guideline based on ISPCA standards. The maximum number refers to birds the size of a Quail, while the smaller number is for average-sized chickens, like a Rhode Island Red.
To ensure the coop is the right fit for your flock, we highly recommend checking the specific dimensions of both the run and the housing area.
For the best protection, we recommend applying a high-quality wood preservative, varnish, or water repellent within the first week of purchase and/or before heavy rain. Pay close attention to the roof edges, eaves, and all joints to prevent the wood from swelling.
Regularly cleaning the coop and treating the wood is essential to prevent it from becoming brittle and unsightly. If the coop will be kept outdoors, we suggest applying additional coats of wood preserver. For long-term durability, it's best to position the coop in a sheltered area that isn't fully exposed to the elements.
Always use non-toxic, animal-friendly cleaning and treatment products.
